NIO ES8 Driving Test
The NIO ES8 has been gaining traction in the Chinese market as a premium electric SUV. As part of our testing process, we conducted a driving test of the ES8 to evaluate its performance, comfort, and safety features. Overall, we found the ES8 to be a well-designed vehicle with impressive driving capabilities.

The battery packs are available in three options: 70kWh, 84kWh and 100kWh, with NEDC ranges of 415km, 485km and 580km respectively.
It is worth mentioning that the old models can also be upgraded to a 100kWh battery pack for a fee, and the upgraded NEDC range can reach 500km.

When accelerating at full speed, the rear suspension will be compressed to a certain extent due to its heavy weight. The sense of push back is as strong as that of electric vehicles, which makes people dizzy.

In the slalom section, the damping of the air suspension will become harder, thus providing stronger support for the car body. From the perspective of posture, the roll phenomenon under extreme conditions is not serious and is acceptable.

The steering wheel is very precise. As a medium-to-large SUV, the NIO ES8 has relatively flexible control and is very easy to drive.

The design of the moose test is not very strict, the lane is wide, the body stability system intervenes in a timely manner, and the posture is quite calm.

After adjusting the vehicle to comfort mode, when driving quickly over consecutive speed bumps, the air suspension can effectively resolve the bumps. The vibration can be felt in the car but it does not feel disturbing.

In the pulley test, only the left rear wheel of the ES8 has adhesion. After the sensor determines that the other three wheels are slipping, the power will be quickly distributed to the left rear wheel, and the escape process is very fast.

Although the ES8 is a powerful electric car, the initial adjustment of the accelerator pedal is not particularly sensitive, so it does not cause much pressure for first-time drivers.

However, the power response of an electric car cannot be underestimated when you step on the accelerator pedal deeply. The power that gushes out instantly is not something that a traditional fuel car can provide.

The ride comfort in the car is just like the continuous speed bumps experienced before, not to mention that there are no such extremely bad road conditions. The bumps on the road can be resolved quite well in comfort mode.
