Global Auto Sales Rankings by Country in November 2025

In November 2025, among the 33 countries with available auto sales data, 14 countries, including China, India, Germany, Russia, and Spain, saw year-on-year sales increases, while 19 countries, including the United States, Japan, Brazil, the United Kingdom, and Canada, experienced year-on-year sales declines.

In November, China's auto production reached 3.532 million units, and sales reached 3.429 million units, both maintaining growth both month-on-month and year-on-year. From January to November, cumulative production and sales reached 31.231 million and 31.127 million units respectively, representing year-on-year increases of 11.9% and 11.4%. The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) pointed out that a series of recent policy measures have released positive signals, helping to enhance development confidence, stabilize market expectations, and expand auto consumption across the entire value chain, laying a solid foundation for a good start to the 15th Five-Year Plan.

US new car sales in November reached 1.28 million units, a 6.3% year-on-year decrease; cumulative sales from January to November totaled 14.807 million units, a 2.4% year-on-year increase. According to US media reports, demand for electric vehicles plummeted as the $7,500 federal electric vehicle purchase tax credit expired at the end of September. Furthermore, as vehicles subject to tariffs gradually replaced untaxed inventory, car prices continued to rise, slowing sales. Additionally, some automakers faced production and sales disruptions due to global chip shortages related to Nexperia, a Dutch chipmaker backed by China, and aluminum supply constraints caused by the fire at Novelis' New York plant.

India's November auto retail sales reached 17,500 units, an 18.7% year-on-year increase, demonstrating strong market resilience. Although November typically sees a post-holiday slowdown, the Goods and Services Tax (GST) reform effectively supported continued market growth.

Japan's November auto sales reached 369,700 units, a 5.1% year-on-year decrease. Of these, sales of cars with engine displacements exceeding 660cc reached 234,700 units, a year-on-year decrease of 6.1%; sales of light vehicles with engine displacements of 660cc and below reached 135,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 3.4%. Japan's cumulative car sales from January to November reached 4.23 million units, a year-on-year increase of 3.4%.

In Germany, new passenger car registrations in November reached 250,700 units, a year-on-year increase of 2.5%; cumulative sales from January to November reached 2.6112 million units, a year-on-year increase of 0.7%. By powertrain type, gasoline car sales reached 61,100 units, a year-on-year decrease of 21.1%, accounting for 24.4% of total sales; hybrid vehicles reached 103,300 units, a year-on-year increase of 9.3%, accounting for 41.2%; pure electric vehicles reached 55,700 units, an increase of 58.5%,

Of these, gasoline vehicles accounted for 66,200 units, a year-on-year decrease of 5.9%, representing 43.8% of total sales; pure electric vehicles accounted for 40,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 3.6%, representing 26.4% of total sales; hybrid vehicles accounted for 19,800 units, a year-on-year increase of 1.3%, representing 13.1% of total sales; plug-in hybrid vehicles accounted for 18,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 14.8%, representing 11.9% of total sales; and diesel vehicles accounted for 1,033 units, a year-on-year decrease of 24.0%, representing 4.7% of total sales.

South Korea's new car sales in November totaled 145,900 units, a year-on-year decrease of 1.1%. Although the South Korea-US tariff agreement eased uncertainty in some industries, factors such as the expiration of the US electric vehicle tax credit, limited new model releases, and weak domestic demand all contributed to the pressure on sales.

Canada's light vehicle sales in November totaled approximately 142,000 units, a month-on-month decrease of 8.6% and a year-on-year decrease of 8.6%. France's passenger car sales in November totaled 132,900 units, a year-on-year decrease of 0.3%.
