FAW-Volkswagen's All-new TAYRON L Debuts And Rolls Off Production Line

On November 4, FAW-Volkswagen's all-new TAYRON L rolled off the assembly line at the Tianjin plant, marking the debut of the all-new TAYRON L. The all-new TAYRON L is built on the MQB evo platform and has been upgraded in sync with overseas models. The domestically produced model has been lengthened and its interior has been upgraded. The new car is positioned as a mid-size SUV and is expected to be priced lower than the Tiguan L PRO, which is currently priced at RMB 236,800 to 266,800.

In terms of appearance, the new TAYRON L adopts two appearance designs, the regular version and the R-Line version. The front of the new car adopts a through-type headlight design, the LED daytime running lights run through the entire front face, and adopts a self-luminous LOGO. The front headlight group is smoked black and uses double-lens LED headlights. The "big mouth" grille has been moved to the front surround, and the blackened design is more sporty. There are also air intakes on both sides, and there are silver decorations on the lower part, showing a cross-border design.

The R-Line version has an R logo added to the front of the car, and the front grille style is completely different, with a honeycomb design, also in a blackened style, with more exaggerated air intakes on both sides, and no silver decoration on the front lip. There is also an R logo on the front door on the side of the car, and the body adopts an upper and lower two-color design. At the same time, the new car also has more dynamic blackened wheels. At the rear of the vehicle, the rear surround decoration is also a honeycomb design, showing a sense of sportiness. The rear spoiler is also designed in black, and the logo on the rear of the car is also in black style. There is a 4MOTION logo on the rear, indicating that the new car is equipped with four-wheel drive. In terms of vehicle size, the length, width and height of the R-Line version are 4695/1866/1684mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2791mm.

The waistline of the body can even be found in the shadow of the current model. The waistline has an upward design at the rear door. The style of the wheel rims conforms to the style of Volkswagen. The side skirts are also decorated with silver. The roof provides a luggage rack, and the door handles are still in the traditional style. In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4684/1854/1685mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2791mm. Compared with the current TAYRON, the length is increased by 91mm, the width is reduced by 6mm, the height is increased by 20mm, and the wheelbase is increased by 60mm.

The new car still uses through-type taillights, and the style of the taillights is also quite unique, and it looks unusual when lit. In the center is the Volkswagen LOGO and the English logo of Tanyue L. The license plate frame is located on the tailgate, and the opening of the tailgate is relatively large. The rear surround echoes the front of the car, adding silver decoration to show the crossover design.

In terms of interior, the new TAYRON L pays more attention to the creation of atmosphere. The new car has added a large number of atmosphere lights, and the interior color matching is brighter, which is in line with the positioning of young users. The new car is equipped with a 15-inch central control screen and a 10.25-inch LCD instrument, which is unified with the Tiguan L PRO model. The car machine is equipped with an 8155 chip, a 2K central control screen, and supports CarPlay and CarLife. The new car introduces iFlytek voice solution, and the driver/passenger dual-tone zone recognition response has a recognition accuracy rate of over 95%. The new car is available in a 5-seater version, and the front seats will be equipped with heating and ventilation functions, and a Harman Kardon brand audio system will also be provided. Below the center console, the original gear area still retains a function knob with a display screen, which is also very textured.

In terms of power, the new car is expected to retain the current power combination, providing 300TSI, 330TSI and 380TSI three power options. The 300TSI model is equipped with the EA211-DSV series 1.5T turbocharged engine, with a maximum power of 160Ps (118 kW) and a maximum torque of 250N·m, matched with a 7DCT wet dual-clutch transmission. The 330TSI model is equipped with a 2.0T turbocharged engine with a maximum power of 186 horsepower (137 kW) and a maximum torque of 320N·m; the 380TSI model is equipped with an EA888-DTJ series 2.0T turbocharged engine with a maximum power of 220Ps (162 kW) and a maximum torque of 350N·m, matched with a 7DCT wet dual-clutch transmission.

Tayron L's main competitors are its own brother Tiguan L PRO and BYD Tang. In September, the sales data showed that Tayron and Tiguan L were on par, with 18,422 units and 16,020 units respectively, ranking second and third. However, compared with Tiguan L PRO, Tayron L's price will certainly be lower. After the generation and lengthening, the sizes of the two models are closer, and the product level is not much different, so it is obvious that Tayron L will have a higher cost performance. BYD Tang's current sales volume ranks fourth, with monthly sales of 12,458 units. Relatively speaking, it has more advantages in fuel economy and body size, but Tang is about to usher in a new generation of models.

Although more and more consumers are beginning to consider new energy vehicles, and the market competition for 200,000 RMB is becoming more and more fierce, traditional fuel vehicles headed by Tayron L still occupy a good market share, and some consumers are still willing to choose more reliable products. Volkswagen also took this opportunity to increase its fuel vehicle offensive, focusing on the areas that Chinese consumers focus on, especially design, size, interior atmosphere and intelligence. After this iteration, TAYRON L will be rejuvenated and attract younger consumers. Of course, the most important thing is the price. Referring to the price surprise brought to us by the new Magotan, it is expected that FAW-Volkswagen will also set a reasonable price for TAYRON L.
