Platform Background
The T1X platform of the Tiggo 5x is a platform specially built by Chery for the SUV market, which has the characteristics of high strength, high stability and high rigidity, providing a more reliable foundation for the vehicle. In addition, the T1X platform also adopts new welding technology and lightweight design, which makes the body stronger and stronger, while also reducing the weight of the whole vehicle and improving fuel economy and driving stability. In short, the Tiggo 5x has a strong platform behind it, which provides a solid foundation for the performance and safety of the vehicle.
Powertrain Configuration
The 1.5L naturally aspirated engine produces a healthy 120 horsepower and 148N·m of torque, providing ample acceleration and power for everyday driving needs. For more adventurous drivers, the 1.5T turbocharged engine delivers an impressive 156 horsepower and 230N·m of torque for an exhilarating driving experience. The Tiggo 5X also offers a choice between a smooth CVT transmission with simulated 9-speeds or a responsive 5-speed manual transmission.
Classic Interior
The interior of the 1.5T model can be said to be a complete copy of the design of the Tiggo 7, so it also uses an electronic gear lever. Although the interior does not use the popular dual-screen design, the combination of the 7-inch LCD instrument and the 10.25-inch central control screen is not bad.
Functional Steering Wheel
Tiggo 5X flat-bottom steering wheel supports 4-way adjustment. The button for controlling the ACC adaptive cruise control function is located at the 9 o'clock position on the steering wheel, which is easy to use. Other functions such as lane departure warning need to be turned on or off in the car computer.
Instrument Panel
Mid-to-high-end models use a 7-inch full LCD instrument panel, which can switch theme colors, display information clearly and easily, and performs well.
Central Control Screen
The 10.25-inch central control screen is standard for all models, but the built-in Lion Zhiyun system is only available in the top-of-the-line High Energy 5. The system can provide real-time online interconnection services, full-time vehicle remote information management, scheduled repair/maintenance and other functions.
Air Conditioning Panel
The manual air conditioning control panel looks high-end, but after turning the air volume or temperature knob, you still have to operate according to the air conditioning interface displayed on the central control screen.
Central Armrest
Behind the electronic gear lever is a tray for placing mobile phones. Its size can easily accommodate a 7-inch mobile phone. It would be perfect if it could be equipped with a wireless charging function for mobile phones.
Front Seats
The seats are wrapped in leather and decorated with red stitching, which is quite comfortable to ride. The main driver's seat supports 6-way manual adjustment.
Rear Air Outlet
Even the low-end Tiggo 5X model does not shrink the rear air outlet, which is more generous than competitors such as Changan CS55.
Rear Seats
The padding of the rear seats is thicker than that of the front seats, and the cushions are more comfortable, but the concave part of the backrest will feel segmented when leaning, which is not comfortable enough.
Electric Sunroof
The old Tiggo 5x is equipped with a panoramic sunroof but it cannot be opened. The new Tiggo 5X sunroof is not large, but it supports electric opening and closing, which is enough for ventilation.
Trunk
The rear seats can be folded down in a 4/6 ratio, but the floor is not completely flat after folding, which will inevitably compromise practicality. The trunk capacity is 340L, which can be further expanded to 1100L after the seats are folded down.
Front Face Design
Chery Tiggo 5x has a very standard small SUV body proportion, and its 45° posture shows a certain sense of sportiness, compact and a bit smart. The design of the front of the car has a more exaggerated style, with a large amount of chrome decoration inside the "big mouth" grille, plus the embellishment inside the headlights, it has a bit of the charm of a "tiger head".
Body Side
The body size of the 1.5T model is 4358/1830/1670mm, and the wheelbase is 2630mm, which is the same as the 1.5L model. The design of the body side remains unchanged, and the 22-year 1.5T model has added red trim to the side skirts.
Tail Design
The rear of the new Tiggo 5x has very little change, only the rear logo has been replaced with the brand's English name, and the tail logo has been moved down to both sides of the license plate frame. The rear design of the 1.5T and 1.5L models is exactly the same, with no new exclusive elements.
Driving Experience
The NVH performance of the whole vehicle feels similar to that of the old model. The quietness of the car is very good when the engine is running at low speed. When the engine speed exceeds 3000rpm, obvious noise begins to be transmitted into the car. The throttle and brake adjustments are relatively light, but it is not easy to run away when starting. The performance of the brake is not linear enough in the initial stage of pressing the brake pedal, and you need to press it more to get the braking force you want.
